Four Card Stud Poker
One of the great things about poker is that there is no need for a person to get bored. There are over fifty different varieties of poker games, and there is a good chance that more will be invented in the not too distant future. Most of the games have been developed when a player started tweaking a game and figuring out how they can make it more challenging.
One game that poker stars players should at least learn how to play is four card stud poker. Players should not assume that simply because the game only has four cards that it will be easier than five card stud. While the game of four card stud is easy to learn, players still have to pay attention.
The game is a relatively new one, but it is starting to attract enough players that most casinos have set up a table and dealer that are exclusively for four card stud.
When a player sits down to play a game of four card stud, they have to remember that they are playing against the casino’s dealer and not the other players at the table. This twist on the game makes it more like blackjack. Instead of playing for a number of points, the value of the hand is determined by the combination of hands the player is holding. The possible hands include; flush, straight, three of a kind, four of a kind, straight flush, two pair, high card, and one pair. Whoever has the best hand is going to win.
Four card stud is similar to Caribbean stud in that the players are required to place and ante wager before they are even dealt any cards. This means that the individual is basically betting that fate is going to give them a good hand.
The dealer is going to give every single player five cards. The dealer then deals themselves six cards. Throughout the course of the game, the dealer will keep one extra card. This is how the house is able to maintain their edge over the players. The dealer places one card face up so that the entire table can see it.
When the players have had an opportunity to see their cards they have a choice. If the player does not think that their hand is worth anything, they are having the option to fold which will forfeit their ultimatebet ante wager. If the player likes the cards they have been dealt, they are able to place another bet. The game rule insists that the second bet must be double the ante wager. If the ante was $1 than the follow up bet must be $2.
When the betting is done, the player is going to have to discard one of their cards. At this point, anyone who is still in the game is going to have to show their hand. If the players hand is higher than the dealers, they win. If the dealer has a better hand, the player loses.
